Siena College (Psychology)
I am a recent graduate of Siena College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minors in philosophy and German. I am also an accepted graduate student to Brooklyn College's masters mental health counseling program.
In my 4 years as an undergraduate student I have tutored fellow students in all three of my focused disciplines, and I have always shown a great passion for tutoring or teaching others. I feel that I have demonstrated this with my experience as a Resident Assistant for 3 years at Siena College in which time I had to serve as a student leader, guide, resource, and mentor at times to my residents. Additionally, my experience at my clinical psychology internship demonstrated my ability to cultivate learning; in my time there I worked in group therapy sessions helping to teach important cognitive based lessons and strategies to the group members in therapy.
While I have never officially tutored or tutored for money, I am eager to start putting my passion, tutoring skills, my mentoring skills, and my people skills to work in whatever way I can be helpful.
I am a member of Psi Chi international psychology honors society. I also have 8 months of experience in a clinical internship setting. I am a member of Phi Sigma Tau international Philosophy honors society. I have tutored privately and on my own accord in both of these subjects some of whom have been my residents while I was an RA.
I have never taught English, but I am a fluent native speaker, a passionate writer, and I know and have taught a second language. Knowing a second language I believe helps me to see the challenges one might face when learning or improving upon a language that is not their native one.
I have taken German classes for 4 years and I even began to teach myself before my formal classes. It is my minor study, and I have a passion for language in general, but German has always and will always be a big part of my academic career. I have taught and I have tutored in German as well.
I have very flexible availability so please feel free to contact me and I am confident I can suit your schedule. Thank you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
