About Meir

I have always loved math, science, and English, but I know they can be intimidating subjects for a lot of kids. They do not have to be scary. In fact, they can be very approachable, and I’m here to make that happen. I recently graduated from Brandeis University with a B.S. degree in Neuroscience/Pre-med and a B.A. degree in Theater Arts.

I offer in-home, specialized tutoring, which focuses on your child's individual needs, while providing a comfortable atmosphere that encourages learning. Teaching is one of my passions, and I have been tutoring for 6 years now. Additionally, I volunteered for the Friendship Circle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children with special needs, for 7 years. I hold myself to a high standard, and you will see nothing short of success as I will help your child unlock their fullest potential.

I am fluent in Hebrew and took college level Hebrew literature classes.
I am also an avid chess player and offer chess lessons.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

My B.S in Neuroscience required I take extensive math classes. I have been tutoring Algebra 1 for 6 years now, and I have seen tremendous improvements with my students. I can offer homework support, subject matter reinforcement, and even help students to get ahead. They will gain confidence and welcome any academic challenge coming her way.

Biology

Biology is my strong suite. I received a degree in Neuroscience/premed, and was required to take extensive graduate level biology/neurobiology classes. Additionally, I have been tutoring middle school and high school level biology for 6 years. My method requires extensive participation from the student, as my lessons are hands-on. This is a surefire way to get the student as passionate and involved with the subject as I am.

Geometry

My B.S in Neuroscience required I take extensive college level math classes. I have been tutoring all levels of geometry for 6 years now, and I have seen tremendous improvements with my students. I can offer homework support, subject matter reinforcement, and even help students to get ahead. They will gain confidence and welcome any academic challenge coming her way. My lessons feature a hands-on, interactive approach to problems students might otherwise find too difficult.

Hebrew

I was raised in Israel for eight years before moving to the U.S. I am fluent in Hebrew, and speak it on a daily basis. When I went to college, however, I wanted to challenge myself. I took advanced Hebrew literature classes to broaden my horizon and strengthen my understanding of the language. Now I teach beginner Hebrew, and focus on the fundamental building blocks of the language to allow my students to learn at their own pace in a comfortable, yet challenging environment.

Public Speaking

I received my B.A. in Theater Arts from Brandeis University. This required I take voice, acting, directing, and public speaking classes. Of the public speaking classes I took, one of them focused on the voice and projection, utilizing physicality, posture, and breathing exercises. The other focused on content and speech writing, and explored the structure and methodology behind delivering compelling speeches. My teaching method implements a variety of noteworthy, hands-on exercises which encourage student participation. This allows me to create a comfortable environment conducive to learning and performance.
