Grove School of Engineering (Graduated) (Chemical Engineering)
Grove School of Engineering (Master's)
I earned a Bachelor of engineering in Chemical engineering from the Grove School of Engineering at CCNY and am currently enrolled in the Masters of Chemical engineering program at the same institute.
I have been tutoring math and chemistry since 2010 and picked up skills on the way. All the subjects I offer to tutor are subjects I have proficiency in, meaning I received an A grade in a course covering that material, and I am willing to pass the knowledge to the students.
In all the subjects I tutor I offer many tricks I picked up on my tutoring sessions and over my chemical engineering student career. I also offer the ability to talk to the student and explain why the things we do are important and how they contribute to his career, daily life and the world in general. I was preparing for a college placement exam in Chemistry. Ruven was able to clearly explain every question that I had, regarding many different topics. I would highly recommend him as a tutor.
I had to start learning chemistry from the scratch for my general chemistry class at CCNY. Ruven managed to cover the basics while preparing me for more advanced material. He patiently explained the subject and ascertained that I understand it.
Being a CCNY student himself Ruven shared tons of handy tips on what is useful to know, what’s going to be on exams, most common mistakes people make, and other valuable wisdoms one might need as a student.
Ruven is critical of his work, judging his success by your results. He learns your goals, your level of training, your pace of learning, and makes the study plan that will work for you. Ruven prepares every lesson, and makes sure that he covers everything he has planned even if you’ve ran out of time (and with no additional cost:) )
In addition to being a fantastic tutor, Ruven is very polite and kind person. I felt very comfortable learning from him. Very reliable, and always makes sure that the time and place of the meeting is convenient for you.
I have learned so much from Ruven!
The only thing Ruven is more gifted at than solving math equations in his head, is teaching other people to solve math equations as well. He was non-judgmental despite having to review some basic math principles with me and also shared a lot of useful hints on remembering how to perform unit circle, sine, and cosine problems without using a calculator. Ruven made me forget my own math insecurities.
Before studying with Ruven, I was really behind in my calculus class and had minimal hope of doing well. After only 2 lessons, I caught up and actually learned material ahead of my class. Now I feel really confident in calculus due to Ruven tutoring me. Ruven's style of tutoring is hands-on and he makes the subject clear. I highly recommend him to anybody that is struggling or wants to get a head in math.
Rubi has a wide knowledge of Organic chemistry. He helps go over the lesson and tries to explain the material so that it stays clear. He is definetly a patient person who will help out on whatever confusion there is so that I could feel more certain about the topic.
I have been an algebra tutor for over 4 years and studied algebra for 12 years of my life.
Due to the fact that I have been interacting with algebra for so long, I can do most Algebra problems in my head without paper or calculator. I teach many quick ways which are not in any book.
I have been a calculus tutor for 4 years now, and studied calculus for 7 years.
Calculus has variety of applications in the day to day and science world and I would like to pass that knowledge to my students and show them that the subject is not useless like most students think.
I have been studying chemical engineering for 2 years now and have acquired the skills required to ace the following courses: Fluid mechanics, Heat and Mass transfer, Transport Operations, Separation operations, Process Control, Reaction Engineering and Material Science.
I have tutored the subject for half a year now and am looking to pass the knowledge to my students.
I have been a chemistry tutor for a year, and studied chemistry for 7 years.
Chemistry is the science of matter and has to do with atoms which are the building blocks of our world (ignoring particle physics); hence this subject is extremely important.
I want to show my students how to solve chemistry problems and how to appreciate the subject.
I have taken this course at the City College of New York and received an A.
I am proficient in the subject, and as a chemical engineer, we constantly use this branch of math to solve problems.
I am a chemical engineering major with a vast knowledge of science.
I read scientific articles daily and enjoy all science subjects.
I have lived in Israel for 18 years and mastered the language while I lived there. I passed the Hebrew regions in Israel and have taken a qualifying exam to pass Hebrew 1, 2 and 3 courses in the United States at the City College of NY.
I have been an organic chemistry tutor for a year, and studied organic chemistry for 3 years.
Organic chemistry is the science of organic matter and is the basics of every biological process, hence this subject is extremely important for all majors.
Organic chemistry students usually memorize mechanisms which is fine but understanding why things happen helps more and will make remembering easier.
