I teach math from Kindergarten to high school, from arithmetic to trigonometry. This means I am certified in algebra ("algebra I" and "algebra II" according to the WyzAnt list), pre-algebra, geometry, and SAT Math as well. How well do I teach? I have an eight-year-old brother, who I taught division before he turned seven. He saw it as a game, as I taught it. If you ask him what he thinks of division, he would say, "It's easy!"
I taught English and math to a 7th grader for a whole year. I am also a Physics tutor for the TRIO special services in my university (Polytechnic Institute of NYU). In Physics my subjects are vectors, linear, circular and projectile motion, forces, momentum, and torque (also known as moment).
I am also a master of giving presentations, and am able to make mind-blowing presentations with very little prior preparation. I am a believer in being relaxed and in the moment at the time of presentation. I can show students how to do the same thing.

Finally, I am an avid martial artist. I took TKD for three years as an early teen, and I am one of the competing members of my university's Judo team. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've been using algebra all my life. I've been successful in tutoring students in passing their Regents exams. I can explain math in a way that kids can understand it.

I was an ESL student for several years, and English didn't become easy for me until I was in high school. I am fluent in Cantonese, and understand how to make learning English easy.
I have been a martial arts fanatic for as long as I could remember. I started Tae Kwon Do when I was 12, and stopped when I was 15. At that time my sparring skills matched those of newer black belts.
I am now in my university's Judo Team. I have competed in at least a dozen tournaments, obtaining many medals in lower-level competitions. I have recently obtained Nikkyu (second level brown belt) and I hope to get my black belt by the end of next year.
I understand the discipline and confidence which martial arts needs to teach, and in most classes (such as Tiger Schulmann) the necessities of real discipline and self-confidence are missing. Most commercial martial arts schools are simply baby sitting industries, where kids do whatever they want and they receive their black belts.
In this way, "black belts" either never gain a sense of self confidence, or they have a fall sense of security. Some would want to prove to people that their martial arts work because they never learned to use their skills in a safe environment. Others try to fight bullies, but in vain because their skills have never been properly developed in a live-resistance training environment.
I also learned that it takes perseverance and focus to be able to perform a move correctly. These are both essentials in the virtue of "discipline" which most martial arts schools claim to teach, but which few actually do. The kids in the other martial arts rarely learn the reward of a technique actually working, and actually being able to throw someone who didn't take the fall for you. I understand the need for this very well, and I know that this is the only way to build a concrete base of confidence.
I can do one-to-one private lessons, but I believe that having several students of similar size or age becomes of a better learning environment, especially for martial arts.
I have been speaking in front of groups since I was 15. In addition to the in-class presentations I had to make, I was also Flight Sergeant in the Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol. Throughout the years, I looked for different ways to improve my presentation skills, and studied books such as Roger Love's "Set Your Voice Free."
I have made all different types of presentations, from 20-slide presentations to four-slide picture-only presentations. I believe in making presentations which will not put the audience to sleep, because I have been put to sleep far too often on the other side of the presentation.
But most importantly, I have learned how to work with nerves and make them work in my favor. That's what I want others to be able to do. I would say that I speak better in front of a large group than I do in one-on-one conversations, because in my presentations I know exactly what I want to say, and I know exactly what I am talking about. I want to be able to teach the essentials to those who are nervous or simply want to speak better publicly.
