In addition, I have taught GED Reading, Writing, American History and Government, including features of World History, to adults returning to school after long absences. I have administered and proctored GED-OPT, TABE; including pre and post testing.
Students in my classes have experienced success on exams, during and after taking courses that I have instructed. Hard work and determination, along with consistency and punctuality are key ingredients in reaching desired objectives.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught American History and American Government for twenty years at the following NYC Bd. of Ed, schools, along with Global History instruction: Andrew Jackson H.S., Thomas Jefferson H.S., and Dr, Susan S. McKinney J.H.S. (1981-2001).
I taught the above same subjects in the GED program at the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center, in Harlem, N.Y., along with Reading and Writing, between 2008-2012.
I taught American Government and Politics for twenty years on both the high school and junior high school levels in the NYC Board of Education System. I also taught it four years at the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center between 2008 and 2012, in its GED Program.
I taught basic reading skills to adult students at the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center from 2008 to 2012. In 2012,I taught as a volunteer in the Literacy Partners Program (of NYC) and was acknowledged for my efforts. As a social studies teacher in the NYC Public School System, the teaching of reading is inherent in the subject itself. This I have done for 20 years. I love reading and engage in the practice everyday. Not a day goes by in which my interest in the skill, and art, is not manifest.
I taught World History / Global Studies on both the high school and junior high school levels, between 1981 and 2001, in the NYC Bd. of Ed. System. Between 2008 and 2012, taught this same subject in the GED Program at the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center in Harlem, New York.
Friends and former co-workers have remarked about my writing skills. And on occasion, I have submitted articles for a small, NYC based newspaper, that has been well-received. To me, writing is the other side of reading.
