June 2008-Oct 2010: University of Pittsburgh Senior vascular surgery research scientist, engaged in elucidating biological and cellular responses in (cardio)vascular disease. Other duties include training of graduate and undergraduate scientists.
Oct 2005-June 2008: Duke University Conduct Microbiological research and teach/tutor students in biology at various levels (High school and University)
Oct 2004-Oct 2005: Rockefeller University Conduct biological scientific research, plus train and tutor various students on scientific concepts.
Nov 99-Oct 2004: UCLA Research at biological science labs, includes training, supervising, teaching and advising students of all ages in the biosciences for school/college or personal interest projects. My unique ability to recognize
I worked with Anton this year for upper level college Biology classes. He is completely knowledgeable in every level of Biology, which is a reflection of his position as a senior research scientist. He is so wonderful in his explanations, that he would also be valuable as a tutor beginning science classes as well. As a result, Anton was able to handle anything that I “threw” at him. As a teacher, he was clearly dedicated to uncovering any roadblocks I might have to my understanding of the material. He was always on time, and was extremely flexible and available with his time. (This was especially important around exam time, or when I had deadlines). Any student would be very lucky to have Anton as a tutor.
I recommend him unreservedly, and with the greatest enthusiasm.
Anton was a wonderful biology tutor for my son. My son and I never thought he would get through the subject, as he was struggling with the topic. He not only passed the course for the year, he did beautifully on the regents. Anton made the material relevant and interesting to a 14 year old boy. We could not have done it without him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Over the past 10 years I have been actively involved in aiding people gain employment through the design of effective cover letters and CVs.
My mentoring skills have further aided people to focus their strengths and highlight their transferable skills to attain their current jobs and position themselves for career change and/or promotion.
I graduated with a degree in Biochemistry with Microbiology (BSc Honors).
I also attained a Masters in Toxicology, which had a heavy Microbiology component (MSc).
Throughout my career I have worked with multiple microbiological agents (including bacteria, viruses and mycoplasma) in order to study pathogenic mechanisms, utilize their infectious nature for therapeutic value as well as for screening and cloning purposes.
In conclusion, my education and experience in this subject is at a high level and I continue to teach and train students (High School, Undergraduate and Graduate/Post Graduate, Medical Resident/Fellows) in practical as well as theoretical aspects of Microbiology
