About Lori

I am a licensed, PROMPT trained, speech-language pathologist. After being educated at the University of Pennsylvania, completing my graduate studies at Columbia University, I currently tutor children of all ages, from both private and public schools.

As a speech-language pathologist, I have gained experience working with children with articulation delays, dyspraxia, language disorders secondary to a PDD diagnosis, and learning disabilities. Specifically, much of my work deals with improving reading and writing skills, including reading comprehension, analysis, writing cohesive theses, and deciphering various texts. I am also proficient in a variety of subjects, and I also tutor for the ISEEs. I have worked with children from ages 3 to 18, and I truly enjoy my line of work.

After working as a private practitioner for several years, I have come in contact with many different curriculums, from public to private schools, as well as traditional to progressive teaching techniques.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Aspergers

I have worked with children with Aspergers for the past 8 years in New York City. I truly feel qualified to help these children with their speech, language, and social skills. As a speech-language pathologist, I provide intervention for children with various delays and disabilities.

One of the focuses of therapy for children with Aspergers is recognizing emotions in others, reacting to facial expressions or vocal tone, initiating conversations, and maintaining eye contact during social exchanges.

Autism
