As a certified science, math and special education teacher, I enjoy working with students on a daily basis. I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics as well as with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. My Master's degree is from the Warner School of Education in Inclusive Adolescent Science Education.
My experience includes over 7 years of tutoring and/or teaching. I have helped students achieve success in every subject from Biology to Calculus, including the SATs/ACTs. I tutor students of all ages, including middle school and college level. My students appreciate my individualized attention and willingness to work with them in almost any subject area. During our sessions, I strive to make sure that students understand concepts they are struggling with. I am patient and willing to review ideas in multiple ways in order to help students understand them. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and would love the opportunity to work with you! Theresa is an excellent teacher who is always punctual and prepared. She has helped our daughter improve dramatically (failing to getting A's) in both chemistry and trigonometry this year. We couldn't be more pleased.
That's what's my daughter, a sophomore taking A2/Trig, said after spending an hour with Theresa. She is encouraging, knows the content, and understands how to explain it.
We are so happy to have found Theresa. She has been covering AP Biology material with our 16 year old daughter and it has been a great experience for her. Theresa is very well prepared and has a great teaching sense which has been very effective in covering the material while still making it fun and interesting. Our daughter is really motivated after the sessions.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have New York State Certification in Special Education. Much of my Master's coursework was in special education.
As part of my master's program, I worked on how to help students with their study skills. Also, I have student taught in a resource room where we focused on helping students with their study skills.
