Todd helped walk me through fixed income securities. We covered US government bonds and the different types (bills, notes, bonds). Covered corporate bonds and differences between secured and unsecured. Walked through order of payout in a liquidation and who gets paid first. Covered muni bonds, how bonds are rated and the scaling system, and investment grade vs junk bond. Quick run through of asset backed pass through securities. Talked about risks involved with fixed income and differences between callable vs convertible. Touched on different types of yields and calculating tax equivalent yield. Finished up with overview of duration, convexity, and discounted cash flow.
