I have taught English in elementary, secondary, and college for over 20 plus years. I have worked with students and their families in preparing their children for college through College Prep tutorial services. I have worked with students and adults with developing critical and analytical strategies to increase their proficiency in reading and writing through all subjects. I am a strong advocate in preparing students and adults of all ages to become life long learners in building their skills to excel in academic and professional settings.
I received my B.A. in English and Speech Theatre and have two Master Degrees. I have a M.A. in English (Creative Writing) and a Masters of Science in Education (School Building Leadership and School District Administration), and a Permanent New York State Certification in English and Permanent School District Administration License. I prepared students with their college portfolios (College Essays for Undergrad and Grad School) and auditions for performing arts.
As a tutor I am able to tap into students different learning styles by using creative approaches to help them with writing, reading, research, vocabulary content will increase their standardized test scores and develop their authentic voice through a literary interdisciplinary approach.
Please feel free to contact me. My hours are flexible, however I prefer tutoring at your local library. Depending where you live, I do have office space in Mount Vernon and the North Bronx where I teach private lessons and group lessons. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a Professor of English and Educational Life Coach for over 20 plus years, I have prepared a rigorous college prep curriculum to meet students needs in critical reading and writing.

I am also a Professor of English working with struggling readers in remedial courses to prepare them to move on to college level classes. I use creative and rigorous strategies to help students excel, while building up their confidence with literacy.
