I feel fortunate to be able to combine the two career areas that fulfill me;writing and teaching. For the past several years I have worked in various university settings teaching undergraduate students the love of language, literature and writing. My students have also been extremely diversified since I teach Academic Writing to Freshman undergraduate students and also teach English to international students in the Language department. It's been intersting to meet and know a variety of students from around the world and learn about the cultural differences and similiarities that we all share. Teaching is a passion for me. I try to always put my students at ease and want them to feel comfortable to ask questions at any given time. Experience has taught me that students learn best when they are in an environment that is condusive to their needs. Hi,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teach Freshman English and Writing at Adelphi University in NY. I have worked with several students through the years on college admission essays. Previously, I worked on local radio and TV news and I know how to write "catchy" leads to make an applicant's essay stand out.
My college degree is in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado/Boulder. I actually had the opportunity to do one of my teaching internships on the Navajo Reservation in Chinle, AZ where I had the opportunity to teach second graders on the reservation. Since that time, I have worked with numerous elementary students on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings. I enjoy challenging and working with young minds since they are open to exploring everything.
