I am a painter and former high school Art teacher who has taught many subjects within this discipline; including Studio Art, Computer Art using Adobe software such as Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign, Digital Photography and AP Art History. My students have done exceptionally well on the AP exam. I also have a background as a graphic designer which makes me uniquely qualified to teach the software in a professional manner. I am currently working with high school students preparing portfolios for college or the AP Studio exam. I love working with kids of all ages and can show you many examples of outstanding work done by former or current students.

Sue is knowledgeable, patient and very well organized. She is prompt, pleasant and reliable. What more could someone want in a tutor? Highly recommended!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught Adobe Illustrator to both high school students and adults and used it to create many illustrations, used for posters, brochures, book covers, invitations and many other uses. I have expertise in all aspects of the program.
I have taught both adults and high school students about Adobe InDesign as well as using it to create a variety of publications including HS yearbook, literary magazines, book covers, and many others. I am adept at both the technical and aesthetic aspects of the program.
I teach aspects of the program such as typographical features such as font style, leading, text editing for both paragraph and display text, inserting images into a document and creating multiple page documents. More advanced features include text wrapping around images, using style sheets to create consistency, and adjusting transparency effects of photos and color backgrounds.
I have used Photoshop in many capacities: as a professional graphic designer, designing book covers, as a photographer ans photography teacher, as a teacher of a class in art and Computers, and as a means of manipulating and optimizing photos of fine art.
I have taught the AP Art history exam for several years and have taken numerous workshops and seminars on the subject. The Baroque period in the 17th century includes, in Italy the works of Caravaggio and Bernini, in Spain, Velasquez and el Greco and in the Dutch republic, Vermee, Hals and Rembrandt. The 18th century includes the movements of Rococo, neo Classicism and Romanticism. In the 19th century we see the Realist movement (Courbet) the Impressionists (Manet, Monet, Cassatt), and Post Impressionism (Cezanne, Van Gogh, Suerat) Photography becomes a viable art medium. In the 20th century there are many movements starting with Modernism, Fauvism, Cubism, Surrealism, and progressing through Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, Earthworks and many others.
