Welcome! I am a college counselor and a writing tutor/mentor for students of all ages. I have been doing this work since 2013. I help students improve their academic or creative writing and editing skills, and to become more confident, fluid writers. Great help for college essays!
Helene has been assisting my son with his essays and she has been an amazing help. She is part counselor, part editor, and part cheerleader. She is able to help him clarify his ideas and express them clearly in his voice, not hers. She is patient and always available. I can't say enough good things about her!

Thoughtful, intelligent, highly skilled tutor
Helene helped me write a series of essays for my graduate school applications to Clinical Psychology PsyD programs. Over the course of several months and sessions we worked together on all steps of the writing process including brainstorming, writing, editing, and rewrites. Her thoughtfulness and creative insight greatly improved the direction of my essays, and her editing skills helped me to fine tune my essays into amazing finished products. We had several working sessions together as well as many offline editing sessions that she provided and I would follow along offline. After I received acceptance into several programs, Helene also helped me with editing for scholarship essays. Helene also had so much knowledge about the entire graduate school application process and was able to help me sort through other aspects besides just essays. During sessions, she is extremely easy to talk things through with. Outside of sessions, she is excellent at responding to messages quickly and thoroughly on the messaging side of Wyzant. I would highly recommend her services and expertise to anyone looking for assistance with college or graduate school application essays!

Helene didn't waste any time letting me know what parts of my practice essays I needed to improve upon and what parts were solid. Helene has a solid background in writing professionally, which helped me considerably, as I was practicing how to write in an essay format that required extreme professionalism. We covered a tremendous amount of ground in the short time we spent together. Additionally, she is very patient and compassionate, so you get to hear what you need to hear without being taken out of your comfort zone. I took the time to review the notes she left on my practice essays multiple times to let it all sink in. By the time the entrance exam day finally came, I felt immensely confident in my ability to write professionally, all on my own. Later on, I discovered that I beat the average admitted score by a wide margin! These written exams were necessary for admission to one of America's most selective business programs, so they weren't easy. She is terrific, and I couldn't recommend her more.

She helped both my sons with their college application essays and supplemental essays. She could help them narrow their ideas and brainstorm as well as organize and help with the editing and actual writing. Very flexible as far as timing, very agreeable.
