Enthusiastic and Creative French Tutor
I am a conscientious tutor and enthusiastic advocate of the French language and culture, as I am French myself and spent 42 years there before I moved to the US in 2005. I started tutoring with Wyzant on Long Island in 2010 and taught French to 8th graders in a private school for a year. I am back to tutoring as I love the variety of students I meet and work with. The wide variety of French books and magazines for K-12 students, DELF ones for various levels I have explored helps me adapt easily to each inquiry. More importantly, after more than 2000 lessons given, I have an extensive experience in kids educational programs as well as adult training.
-Thanks to my doctorate level, I am well organized, and able to search for the right tools and material to develop targeted projects in order to help students at all levels with their needs. I demonstrated excellent communication skills and planning expertise in developing educational programs for children creating appealing (and awarded) posters and craft activities for international nights in primary and secondary schools in the US, even creating an annual treasure hunt contest in between schools in partnership with the museums of the town for kids in 4th and 5th grades in France.
- Tutoring kids is thus a natural disposition I already practiced with different children. I helped young Americans to keep up with their French experience abroad, and prepared another one enter back the French school system after a few years in the US, successfully brought a young girl to scoring nearly perfect score on her SAT French test, give confidence and pleasure in others learning a foreign language.
-As a volunteer judge for the American Association of Teachers of French for three years, I am also aware of French contests contents. I can help with guided speaking, prose and poetry reading exercises which improve pronunciation for middle school and high school students. Besides, I can also provide help with French SAT subject training and AP French exams.
-In the school year

The very best French tutor that I have ever seen!
Sylvie taught French to my three children for over two years between September 2012 and October 2014. Her Ph.D. degree was a key reason in initially selecting her. I thought I would get someone who understands the language and culture to the full extent. What I had hoped for I did get, and even more. Sylvie is nice and has this exceptional ability to get children interested in French and to develop passion for learning French in them. Words fail to describe her great ability! If French teachers were flowers, Sylvie would be the rose. She is the very best language teacher among all language teachers that I have seen in my life so far, and may stay that way. Very highly recommended.Byeongju, 105 lessons with Sylvie

My son has two years of French from middle school and is now continuing with Sylvie and having a great experience. We've just started but I think he's learning at a better pace and with greater understanding than he had been in school. Thanks!Robert, 36 lessons with Sylvie
Sylvie is about the best one could have as a tutor. My son was zooming and was loosing his motivation. He bounced back with Sylvie. I only wish I had started her tutoring him earlier in the course. Can't recommend her highly enough!Jeanne, 9 lessons with SylvieTutor responded:
Thank you very much, Jeanne. Nicholas is a young man who just needs to get more confident in himself. He has more potential than what he thinks. And even if he has his struggles, the biggest hurdle might be his fear of failing. Failures are part of the journey, sometimes, but they should not stop him to try. Success belongs to whom is reaching out. It might be late to help him, but I want him to be strong while facing his exam and I prepare him the better I can. Cordially. Sylvie
