Niagara County Community College (Liberal Arts Math and Sciences)
Niagara University (Enrolled)
I have wanted to be an educator since I was a child. I have a passion and desire to share what I know in order to help others succeed. I believe that each person has the capacity to achieve their goals no matter what they are if they are willing to put in the work. In High School, I won Scholar-Athlete of the Year. There, I learned what it meant to be a part of a team and find a balance between athletics and academics. I also won two Presidential Awards for Outstanding Academic Excellence. After graduating with an Honors Medallion, I graduated from Niagara County Community College with a Liberal Arts degree before transferring to Niagara University where I am pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. All throughout these years, I have had the privilege of shadowing, mentoring and being a Teacher's Aide in several classrooms across the area. I love being able to work with students and watch them progress over time.
I love tutoring many subjects but perhaps none other than Math. While math is my specialty, I also enjoy helping students with English, Language Arts and Science. Whether it is preparing for an upcoming test or working over the summer to get a head start on the following year, I thoroughly enjoy what I do and take my pride in my lesson preparation.
I believe that each student possesses different strengths, weaknesses and personalities. I like to get to know each student if possible. I try and tailor lessons and approaches to each student. Some need extra help and practice and I can provide that if necessary. I often create practice assessments and interactive games for the students to help them learn. I will do whatever I can to help children succeed if they want the help.
I take what I do seriously. I hold myself to a high standard. I am laid-back and patient in working with students. I'm usually very flexible with time. My goal is to provide value for money and I am accepting of feedback. If there is anything I can help with in-between lessons, I check my e-mail a few times a day at the very least so my response time is ASAP. I like working with parents as well and anything I can provide so that they may assist their child is also part of what I do. By providing regular reports and two-way feedback between myself and parents/students, the student ultimately benefits the most.
I am more than willing to work with students in a neutral setting or in their homes if that is preferred. I do have a cancellation policy but I am more than willing to provide a make-up session if mutual time allows. I also offer extended sessions and small group sessions upon request at varying rates.
I look forward to hearing from you and assisting you in achieving your goals! I have wanted to be an educator since I was a child. I do offer special rates upon inquiry!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a T.A. (Teacher's Assistant) in an elementary school teaching language arts (among other subjects) for several years while I was in college at NCCC and Niagara University. Even while I have taken time off, I have been asked to visit classrooms and provide in-class and after school booster help with individual students, small groups and even entire classrooms. English/Language Arts is one of my strongest subjects and always has been as I've scored As in high school and aced each of the 9R and 10R regents exams for New York State. In 11th grade, I scored a 96 and in 12th, I went to college for my English requirement and took college-level courses at NCCC.
