University of Albany (Criminal Justice)
Mount Saint Mary College (Master's)
I have been working with students since I was a young teenager. My love of teaching started when I was just a young student myself. I grew up tutoring other peers and then tutoring younger students. I went to school and became certified in Childhood Education and Special Education 1-6. I did an undergraduate in Criminal Justice and Juvenile studies. I am well rounded and have experienced in working with students from grades first through twelve but specialize greatly in grades 1-6. I have proven results helping students in ELA, Math. Social Studies, and Science. I am a hands on teacher and learner as many students are. I incorporate many learning styles to the way I teach which maximizes learning. Teaching with more than just standard lectures really helps students grasp hard concepts.
I love tutoring because it allows me to have a more one on one experience with a student who is struggling and not getting all they require in today's larger classrooms. Society is growing and classrooms are very large. A lot of students need a little extra attention to reach their academic potential. I want to help students and this is the best way I know how.
I can be available evenings and weekends and flexible hours. I am new to this service, WyzAnt, but I have years of experience teaching students.
I specialize in understanding Common Core Math Standards and I am able to incorporate these standards in a hands on academic program. I am able to design pretests and postest to constantly evaluate students learning.
My Master's degree was based on learning, understanding, and developing lessons designed with the NYS Common Core as a foundation. I have several work samples to show for a variety of subjects. Common core can be overwhelming, big, and daunting, but I feel I am able to read through them, and then design a supplemental academic program which aligns with the standards that are better understood.
I am dual certified in Childhood 1-6. I have over 100 fieldwork hours working with students from whole classes to one on one students.
I am certified in Special Education 1-6. I have experience working with a group home specializing in students with learning disabilities. I have worked with students with Autism, LD, ED, and OHI. I have designed FBA's, BIP's and IEP's with school personal. I also have experience in behavior management and crisis management.
I have a love for teaching and learning, as I am a lifetime student. I have the experience required to help students really reach their goals. I hope to hear from you soon so we together can move forward and learn! I have been working with students since I was a young teenager. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my masters in Childhood Education grades 1-6. I have years of experience tutoring students ranging from grades 1 through 12 but specialize in grades 1-6. I have taken many tests and assignments based on the NYS Common Core including my comprehensive exams to pass my Masters. I have over twenty work samples of lesson plans based on the NYS Common Core for documentation. I also passed my Edtpa for NYS Certification which is based on the Common Core.
I have my certification in Elementary Education 1-6. I use a variety of teaching styles and techniques such as direct instruction, cooperative learning and inquiry based learning. I have over 100 logged fieldwork hours working with a variety of students in grades 1-6.
I am certified with my masters degree in Special education grades 1-6. I have over a year of experience working with a autistic student grade 3. I also have over two years experience working with a group of boys who had ED and LD classifications. I have experience designing tools for students to use such as file folders for schedules and behavior management programs.
