Hello! My name is Phillip and I am a Johns Hopkins graduate with a degree in mathematics and philosophy.
I've worked as an undergrad teaching assistant for Math courses at Johns Hopkins such as Discrete Mathematics, Calculus II, Linear Algebra, Probability/Statistics. I am a middle school mathematics teaching fellow at Trinity School NYC (Upper West Side). I have experience teaching students anywhere from 5th grade to college sophomores. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Education from University of Pennsylvania (part-time). I understand how difficult and pressuring math can be, and I try to relive the stress by catering my explanation to the students' individual needs and styles.
The areas of tutoring I can offer are as follows:
- I scored 800/800 for SAT math section, 36/36 for ACT math section, a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and 800/800 for SAT subject test Math 2. I know how intimidating the math section of standardized tests can be, and I can demystify the process for you by dissecting the problems, identifying the patterns, and giving you tips and tricks to succeed in these tests so that you can achieve the score you want to!
- I have experience participating in AMC10 and AMC 12, and qualified for AIME, and I also have experience tutoring for AMC10. I can assist you in getting to know the tips and tricks of the math competition exams!
- I have experience teaching/tutoring middle school and high school math, so I can help you with anywhere from arithmetics to precalculus!
- I have experience working as an undergraduate teaching assistant for math courses in college, so I can help you with any kind of introductory college level mathematics!
- I have written countless philosophical research papers throughout 4 years. I also have experience writing/editing for non-academic, informal settings such as Quora (I was awarded Quora Top Writer in 2018) and Johns Hopkins newsletter. So I can assist you with any kind of writing assignments or projects.
