My name is Allan, and I am a Computer Science student at Johns Hopkins University. I chose to study Computer Science because I am passionate about both software and hardware and how they interact with each other. Throughout the years, I have been exploring this passion by working on projects and internships with friends and teammates; allowing me to gain valuable experience that I would love to teach others. In my journey so far, I came across discouraging challenges that I was able to overcome through tutoring and mentoring. Despite having a rough start, I have been fortunate to have interned at several companies such as Meta, and had a great impact on communities.
Now, I love to use my experience to tutor others in several areas such as Calculus 1, Algebra 2, and Computer Science (Java, Python, JavaScript, and more). I enjoy providing an environment where students feel comfortable sharing their confusion with no judgment. I believe that, as a tutor, my job is to listen and understand students' concerns and issues while helping them not only pass the class but apply the techniques they learned to real-life situations or subjects.
As a resource, I am specifically experienced in Front-end development (React.js), Backend and APIs Development, Mobile Development, Object Oriented Programming, Algorithms, and Data Structures. I am well versed in interview prep and obtaining jobs and internships in Computer Science. I can do mock interviews, teach algorithms and help you develop habits and systems that will help you be successful in your job-hunting journey.
During a lesson, I can cover any topic you wish to go over with the freedom and pace that works best for you. I can provide practical and real-life applications if your goal is to learn a new programming language or improve in one. I will provide you with content to learn, and we will practice solving problems or working on projects to master the skills you have learned. You are free to ask any questions or concerns.
