I love helping other students realize their potential in the computer science field. I mainly work with people who are just starting out. I worked in a startup for a restaurant tech company and am currently working as a full-stack developer in a fintech. I work primarily in the frontend using React and typescript. If you are experiencing a bug or need a subject taught to you please send me a detailed explanation of what you need help with.

**/ I guarantee the utmost satisfaction for my students, there is no charge If I can't solve your problem, or you are unsatisfied **/

My methodology for teaching is simple. First I assess your programming skills by asking you general questions: What did you study in college? What is your most proficient programming language? How long have you been programming? Once I determine your skill level I can proceed with giving you step-by-step instructions on how to solve your issue or teach you the subject you requested. My speed of teaching will depend on your skill level. For example, I will go really slowly with you if you need help with understanding user authentication and have no experience.

I mostly work with beginners, but if someone is more experienced and wants help solving a bug, all I ask is that you send me a detailed explanation of what you are experiencing and I will get back to you with a proper solution that we can review together.

Lastly, I am very friendly. I understand programming is hard, believe me, I have been there and still am there from time to time. With that said, I am very lenient with time slots and very responsive in messaging. If you did an hour session with me and have a simple question for me after the session, just message me, I am very responsive! If for any reason you are unsatisfied with my service, please reach out and tell me! I want to make sure that you are getting exactly what you need. If you are unsatisfied I offer full refunds.

HTML and CSS

Knowledgable tutor, overall productive lesson that yielded results. Was struggling in terms of knowing how to build an interactive chat room and Lawrence was able to get me started with it.

Well-versed, patient, and responsive

Lawrence helped me understand the flow of user data through a React/Redux app with a Rails Backend. He walked me through how the information moves from function to function and fully explained what was happening each step of the way.

Goes through step by step

Lawrence was great! He really took his time going over the material- if I didn’t know how to do something at all he would break it down step by step so that it made sense, I would definitely recommend him to others!!

Finally someone who tells you how to get the job for REAL.

In the beginning, I want to say that I asked a lot of people - devs, mentors, teachers about getting hired, how to do it, and what my main focus of study should be to get hired, and I mostly got general answers: "Do what you love", "Keep on studying", etc... I must say that I signed up for a lot of courses including Nanodegree from Udacity, and I paid a lot of money for them, and I feel like I didn't get any serious information or knowledge from these courses. Why I am talking about it here? First of all, Lawrence told me HOW IT REALLY WORKS and what I SHOULD DO to become a hiree. First of all, he told me about the everyday update of Github, a few commits a day will do, so your stats are all green, and I must say this is amazing. I started on the 1st of April, and I am regularly committing the code to my Github. While doing so, I am learning a lot and I show the future employer that I am seeing the code every day - that's what they want to know! Secondly, Lawrence told me about what is really used at work - he explained to me that class-based components are obsolete, and now every company uses hooks. He told me that redux is very heavy, and many employers don't require the beginner to know redux, and I should definitely study context for now. Why this was important to me? Let me explain. I signed up for Nanodegree and here they gave me two projects to complete: class-based components project and Redux project! And I am asking now, will I need them to get the job? And the answer is NO. The truth is that most of the online courses are just there to make money on the students, to force them to struggle with the projects while giving them a bit of "misguided advice". If they would tell us right away that working on our GitHub is way more important than the certificate from their course, we would never pay for them! It is much better to hire a tutor like Lawrence who is a good teacher and who can explain everything. It is much easier and faster to learn how to code while having one-to-one interaction than signing up for the course and get feedback from the tutor in the form of text messages that are delivered to the student within hours or days. I will definitely book Lawrence again if he will be free. I will show him my progress. He guided me a lot of and I understood my mistakes, now I feel like I will get the job. After 6 months, I will be ready to apply.

Lawrence for the Win!

After a minute of talking to Lawrence you realize that he is a very knowledgeable programmer. He helped me with some API's and functional rendering with react. I will definitely use his services in the future.

Tutor responded:

Thanks, Eddie, I had a fun time working with you!

Knowledgable and easy to work with!

Lawrence was very knowledgable and we made a lot of progress in just our first session. I look forward to working together again with him on some future coding. In addition, he was very nonjudgmental in my level of coding knowledge but very encouraging and facilitating. That's a great quality in a tutor. Patient and helpful.
