Hello,

My name is Kevin S. and I am an ELA and Social Studies teacher that specializes in students with disabilities. I have currently taught humanities in special education for four years. My approach to teaching involves incorporating student interests so that my students are constantly engaged in their instruction. I currently hold a masters in science for teachers. I have had many hours in the classroom and employ various techniques to help students achieve their educational goals. These techniques have proved beneficial to not only special needs students but traditional education students as well. My passion for teaching is only superseded by my love for witnessing student success. My students tend to refer to me as a practical joker when it comes to learning and I hold that title in high regard. I currently hold a Masters in Science for Teachers with a concentration in moderate to severe Special Education. As a special needs instructor, the majority of my students have difficulty with reading and comprehension. I have been trained in teaching early childhood reading and as a result, can break down reading skills to the most fundamental of levels. My technique involves gauging students' interests and incorporating these interests to make reading enjoyable and maximize learning. I have worked in a specialized school district for students with moderate to severe disabilities for the past four years. The students in my classes have a myriad of disabilities including social-emotional disorders, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I utilize various teaching techniques including differentiation, scaffolding, and modifying text to cater to each child's unique learning styles.
