Hello everyone! My name is Michaela and I am an incoming Columbia University graduate student, as well as a Barnard College undergraduate, pursuing my MA in English and Comparative Literature and with projected degrees in English and Dance at Barnard's world-renowned, selective English Department, as well as its conservatory-level Dance Department.

In writing and English, I have coached students admitted to prestigious programs including those at Columbia, Brown University, Oxford University, and the New York Times. My writing instruction includes advanced literary analysis coaching including comprehensive training in MLA formatting and citations. I hope to help students reach new heights in writing!

In dance, I have coached students attending top ballet schools such as the Rock School and Marat Daukayev school of dance who, through my instruction, were admitted to the schools’ top levels. My dance instruction includes detailed stretching and strengthening techniques focusing on hip flexibility and strength.

My self-authored academic essays have received worldwide recognition on Barnard websites and my poetry and personal narratives were chosen for the Barnard Creative Writing Department's official showcases. I have also served as an opinion writer for the Columbia Daily Spectator, which was awarded Best Overall student newspaper by the Society of Professional Journalists. In high school, I received a 5 on the AP Literature test in 2018, a year in which only 6% of test-takers received this score.

I have worked as a dance teacher for four years, following a rigorous Vaganova ballet curriculum for young dancers. At Barnard and Columbia, I have extensive experience in dance instruction and choreography, specializing in adapting choreography for non-dancers. My approach to teaching emphasizes straightforward instruction, yet is catalyzed by inclusion, empathy, and understanding.

I so look forward to working with you!

Wonderful! Everything we were looking for!

Michaela thinks outside the box in the beat of ways. She is energetic and enthusiastic! She gets my 8 year old’s mind working and is teaching her in ways I never would’ve thought to. She’s definitely been the highlight of my kid’s day during this pandemic. So glad we found her. 😊
