I graduated from Amherst College with a degree in neuroscience with distinction and am currently a medical student at Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. As a neuroscience major and pre-med student, my collegiate experience was filled with testing various studying strategies. I had both good and bad studying habits and know how to break the worst habits and turn them into good techniques. I have an extensive science background, and am willing to help any student struggling with either a particular science course or in their MCAT preparation. I am passionate about teaching and flexible with my tutoring availability.
I tutored both intro and upper level courses throughout high school and college, and love how reciprocal the relationship can be. Teaching is not one-sided. My philosophy is one where both I and the student contribute to the discussion. I believe the best way to learn is via teaching, thus by encouraging my students to attempt to explain concepts/topics to me, my students interact with the information on a deeper level and achieve greater understanding. I graduated college a neuroscience major with distinction. Throughout college I was a teacher's assistant for various neuroscience courses and have extensive biology background. I am happy to help all levels of biology students.
I scored in the 99th percentile on the MCAT and understand the exam well. The MCAT uses various question pathologies that when identified can help improve your score beyond fundamental science knowledge. As mentioned above, I used various studying techniques while preparing for the MCAT, and after tutoring the MCAT these past few years, I have developed a studying schedule and found preparation strategies that works for my students to improve their scores and enjoyment of the process. I spent a long time studying and understand the burn-out and other studying pitfalls one can fall in during the preparation. As a tutor, I am here to help both comprehension of the material and help in studying habits and li
