Michelle got her degree in Elementary Education K-6 at Florida International University in 2009, and has been teaching elementary children ever since. In a decade of experience, Michelle has taught children in General, Special, and Gifted settings in Kindergarten-4th grade. Michelle has taught Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Spanish.

In the past few years, Michelle has been working diligently to become a trauma-informed teacher and to enhance social-emotional development in children. Throughout her journey, she has come to understand how the human brain reacts when it is in crisis, and how to use tools such as yoga, mindfulness, and meditation to regulate the nervous system. The more she implements these strategies in her lessons, the more she realizes that when children’s nervous systems are regulated, they are better capable of absorbing and understanding the material.

Michelle is also a trauma-informed yoga teacher and fluent in Spanish.

In the past 3 years or so, I have completed a 200 hour teacher training. In addition, I have continued to study how yoga, mindfulness, and meditation regulate the nervous system. This is a great tool to use when teaching children who have difficulty with concentration and executive functioning.

Michelle is an amazing tutor!

Michelle is a patient, caring, knowledgeable professional and she really knows her stuff! She is an excellent tutor for my nine-year-old daughter, who is currently in the 4th grade. She is always right on time and prepared, and knows just the right way to help my daughter grow and learn through the lesson.
