I began tutoring in high school where I was a go-to tutor for students struggling with algebra I and II, pre-calculus, and calculus. I attended MIT from 2010-2014 where I was hired as a teacher in the Educational Studies Program. I also had the pleasure of living in Nashville for a year and working as a full-time tutor at a local Middle School. This was considered a priority middle school by the district and most of the students were coming from low-income households and challenging environments. This gave me a whole new perspective and patience for how to effectively teach and it was extra rewarding to see these students learn and succeed.
Part of what makes me an outstanding tutor is my mastery of math concepts. I double-majored in Physics and Neuroscience at MIT and received perfect scores on both SAT Math I and Math II tests. I also scored in the top 1% of the American Mathematics Competition two years in high school and was invited to participate in the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME). More importantly, I believe I am an excellent communicator and I take pride in my ability to make concepts clear. Finally, I believe I have a good sense of humor - this is important when things aren't making sense.
