With me, you’re not just getting any tutor. You’re getting expert level academic guidance from an MD/Ph.D. candidate with clinical and research knowledge.

Through 10 years of tutoring a diverse set of students, I've enjoyed channeling my passion for mentorship with hundreds of total hours across different subjects including biology, writing, study skills/time management, and MD and MD/Ph.D. admissions. I build a personalized learning curriculum for each student to achieve mastery and success - I am committed to each student to enjoy a memorable and enriching tutoring experience. I am looking forward to doing with same with you!

Teaching Philosophy: Let me share something personal with you - as a daughter of an artist and an opera singer, I've enjoyed having a creative knack but found that I struggled in my classes earlier on in my academic journey when I was younger. Now that I am pursuing two doctorate degrees through clinical and scientific training, I reflect on these earlier experiences and realized how learning has been transformational for me. Through mentors and instructors, and my own personal trial and error, I have learned the inspiring transformation that both learning and teaching brings. I am inspired to help others surpass their goals in their own academic journeys.

And it's not just about working hard but studying smart. Through my extensive tutoring and academic career, I've built a repertoire of strategies and resources for you to learn efficiently for building knowledge and increasing memory retention.

Past Teaching/Mentoring experiences:

Career Development

I am an MD/Ph.D. candidate with extensive tutoring and writing background. My passion is to mentor students through their journey to successfully conquer the admission process for competitive college, medical and graduate school. It is a difficult, often anxiety-inducing journey; but with a mentor, many students' lives are transformed when they are able to navigate this experience with someone who has been through it. I utilize my own successful experience as an applicant, and now as a member on the MD/Ph.D. admissions committee where I interview and vote on applicants, to effectively launch students into the next stage of their academic and professional journey. I find it so rewarding to help students approach their goals through both short and long term planning. I've worked with high school students since their first day of freshman year to build a long-term approach to college and medical school - helping plan their coursework, extracurriculars, research involvement, and standardized test. I've also worked with college students since their first year in college and have maintained long-term mentoring relationships. Now, I am helping them apply to MD and MD/Ph.D. programs. Whatever stage you are in your journey, I want to help you along the way and when you are ready to apply, to help you convey your hard work and outstanding qualities into a coherent, memorable application. I can help you highlight your accomplishments and goals in writing to make the best possible first-impression through essays, resumes, and cover letters. I am also excited to help with your interviews through coaching and mocks to maximize the impact you make in person during these important days! I enjoy building interviewing and speaking skills with students so that they can walk into their real interviews both confident and prepared. I am excited to share my decades of experience with you and work together to achieve your goals!

Proofreading

Proofreading

As a scientist, I have built the communication skills that are integral to my role through editing and proofreading skills on theses, publications, and many other documents. My experience as a writer, myself, and with other writers spans the entire realm including academia, lab reports, college/graduate school application, creative writing pieces, and comparative literature essays. My academic training for writing includes essay-heavy courses including rhetorical grammar, comparative literature, history courses, and more. I have also prepared personal statements/essays/resumes for my own applications to college, medical school/graduate school, research internship, and scholarships, which total to over 100 applications. I have been published in two scientific journals including Nature Cell Biology, and won the gold key for a creative piece for the National Scholastic Art and Writing Award. I’ve been a writing tutor for over a decade, beginning at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. Since then, I've helped hundreds of students brainstorm, edit, and polish their writing pieces for their class, research, and applications. I find it immensely rewarding to help students transform their ideas and works into stronger submissions that they feel confident in. I am excited to share my passion and experience to help you reach your own goals! I effectively and swiftly edit documents in ways that are easy for you to follow. I use tools such as track changes, conventional editing markup, and margin comments. I offer live proofreading or proofreading of a document you send me. I'm able to offer live proofreading or proofreading of a document you send me (the latter, I can provide a quote on how long it will take beforehand). I look forward to working with you!

Through thousands of hours tutoring in biology, I've acquired a set of tools to help you master biology in an easy and digestible way - whether it's for class, standardized exams, or research. It brings me great joy to see my students gain confidence and passion for biology and classes. I started tutoring biology 10 years ago at the Illinois Math and Science Academy and then brought my passion for teaching and biology to Emory University, where I helped students master biology concepts as a teaching assistant in the foundational biology course and navigate their research projects as a biology research course fellow. I have published in two major scientific journals, including Nature Cell Biology, as well as presented at two national conferences including the Annual American Association of Cancer Research Conference. I received highest honors in biology at Emory University and I am currently an MD/PhD student studying immunology, microbiome, and cancer. For my academic and biology achievements, I have been honored to receive numerous awards including the Phi Beta Kappa (The oldest and prestigious academic honor society in the United States), Darrell Stokes Award (awarded to only one graduating senior for exemplary academics, creativity, and leadership in the college and biology department), and Barry Goldwater Scholarship Honorable Mention (recognized for academic achievement, exceptional scientific research, and demonstrated potential and commitment to making significant contributions as a scientist). I very much look forward to sharing the exciting world of biology with you!
Homeschool,

Homeschool

I have been a tutor for 10 years. I am an MD/Ph.D. with my doctorate studies specializing in biology. I help homeschool children by helping them keep up with their curriculum, motivating them to learn and master the subject material. Teaching homeschool children all over the country has given me an opportunity to understand the coordination and communication involved to keep parents aware of the progress being made. While in high school, college, and graduate school, I taught study/organization/time-management skills, science, and writing. I love building each of my student’s confidence and sparking a love for learning! I look forward to working together.

My favorite thing as an academic coach is that I get to see my students transform into independent, organized, and confident learners. I've worked with hundreds of students one-on-one in acquiring study skills (e.g. organization, time management, test-taking strategies). These skills feed into the success of every subject and class, and it is truly a transformative skill to build and I've seen many students change because of it! As a peer coach, I love working collaboratively with students to identify their strengths/weaknesses, formulate strategies unique to the students' learning style, and construct action items for the student to attain their goals and build their skills. I am patient and energetic, and love motivating my students to excel and learn. I am looking forward to working with you!

My passion is mentoring bright individuals with their essay writing. I've worked extensively with students to build their applications for competitive programs such as college, graduate, and medical schools. Currently, I partake in my medical school's admission committee to review applications and interview applicants - this allows me to strategically advise my students. I know that writing an essay or preparing an application can be daunting. If you work with me, my priority is to help you transform your ideas and works into an extraordinary submission that you feel confident in by doing the following:
(a) breaking down the task into manageable, achievable steps (b) guide you as you tackle each step of the essay (c) help you make meaningful progress on your personal timeline As a scientist, I have built the communication skills that are integral to my role through writing, editing, and proofreading skills on theses, publications, resumes, and many other documents.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

Writing

Writing

My experience as a writer, myself, and with other writers spans the entire realm including academia, lab reports, college/graduate school application, creative writing pieces, and comparative literature essays. I have been published in two scientific journals including Nature Cell Biology and won the gold key for a creative piece for the National Scholastic Art and Writing Award. I’ve been a writing tutor for over a decade, beginning at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. I find it immensely rewarding to help students transform their ideas and work into stronger submissions that they feel confident in. I am excited to share my passion and experience to help you reach your own goals!

Career Development,
