I am a retired NYC guidance counselor and teacher with 33 years experience working in New York City schools. I have worked individually with students and in groups. I have worked closely with teachers and administrators to help students achieve success. I have also worked with parents and have run parents groups to assist them with their children and offer support.
I loved working with students and had great success in helping them gain confidence and achieve their goals. As a tutor I will be able to help students with their school work, help them feel better about themselves and succeed in school.
I am fluent In Hebrew having graduated from a Hebrew English Day School as well as taken courses in Hebrew in high school and college.
I worked with elementary school students and have NYC licenses and NYS certification. I worked with elementary school students in both public and private schools. I have city licenses in elementary education and state certification and also in guidance.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During my 33 years as a NY City guidance counselor and teacher I have used writing to help my students communicate. I helped students fill out college applications, including writing personal essays, job applications and other correspondence. While working with elementary school students I have assisted students with their writing assignments as well as working to improve their handwriting skills.
I am fluent in Hebrew. I studied the Hebrew language from age three at a Hebrew Day School where all the subjects were taught in both English and Hebrew. I also took Hebrew in both high school and college. I have also been to Israel where I have spoken Hebrew and have been able to communicate with native speakers.
