Boston Univerisity (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology)
Boston College (PhD)
I am an Educator and Biologist with a BA from Boston University and PhD from Boston College. I specialize in teaching BIOLOGY and STATISTICS, with a focus on helping the student achieve a conceptual understanding of the material that can be applied to situations outside of a textbook.
I have over 8 years of teaching experience including freelance tutoring in the United States and in Italy, NSF-funded training programs to learn curriculum development and student assessment techniques, and eight semesters of teaching Principles of Immunology and Molecular and Cellular Biology at Boston College. For the past two years I have been working as a private tutor in Manhattan.
I provide assistance with dissertation preparation including statistical analysis of primary data, creating publication-quality figures, and thesis editing. I also consult on experimental design, presentation skills, and public speaking for professionals.
All my life, I have been a scientist. I majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology undergrad and earned a PhD in Biology with a focus on Immunology. I have a deep understanding of Biology and can tutor at all levels. I also tutor Physics and Chemistry for high school and introductory university courses.
Many students come to me for help with math. I am fortunate to be one of the people that "gets" math and have a talent for helping others understand the material. I have extensive experience teaching all high school level maths: Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Calculus.
I became interested in Statistics during my graduate studies and have a thorough understanding that comes from real life application of statistical techniques. I have helped students taking Statistics courses for business, psychology, nursing, and engineering programs at NYU, Columbia, and Northwestern with proven results.
Thank you for your interest in my services. Whether you are a competitive Ivy League student or someone who just needs a little help to stay on track, I look forward to helping you achieve your academic ambitions. ABOUT ME:

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned a PhD in Biology/Immunology and a BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. For 8 semesters, I taught Immunology and Molecular and Cellular Biology courses at Boston College. I have tutored biology students at NYU and Columbia.
My undergraduate coursework included three semesters of honors Physics. I have tutored Intro Physics for NYU and Columbia students and general physics for HS students.
I have presented award winning research at five industry conferences. Additionally, I have given multiple presentations as part of regular lab meetings, departmental retreats, and student panels. I have taught in multiple lecture format classes and am accustomed to addressing a large audience. I have also been part of over a dozen performances of recreational theater and chorus productions for live audience.
