In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My education has been primary in the area of jazz performance, but I believe the breadth of my experience and related aspects of my education qualify me for the specific subject.
I completed Bachelor’s degree of Performance major this August at Berklee College of Music in Boston MA and am relocating to New York for developing my music career. About my music experience: I’ve had a lot of opportunities to play various kinds of music as a professional drummer inside/outside of the school and learned not only drum techniques but also philosophy as being a musician and human being from greatest teachers/mentors such as Tiger Okoshi, Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Perez at Berklee College of Music.
About my teaching experience: I have had some volunteer teaching experience in the Berklee College of Music. I had held assistantships of ensemble lessons and private drum lessons. Students/Teaching styles are; around 16-18 years old, 5-6 people group lessons, ensemble teaching style, we played some jazz standards and discuss/teach how to play as in a group. And also, I am currently working for the after school program at Bronx House as a drumming teacher and having some regularly private drum students.
