My passion for teaching developed throughout the course of my own education. As an electrical engineering graduate, I understand the challenges of struggling with a problem. I understand the importance of seeking help in order to overcome those challenges, and the satisfaction of making progress. I wish to bring this feeling of achievement to students who need help and guidance in their education, and to help students build confidence in their own abilities to face further challenges.

In my previous employment as a tutor, my responsibilities included helping students, in the range of 5th-12th grade, to develop critical math and reading skills. I helped students, most of whom were native Spanish speakers, in understanding and dealing with an English-based curriculum through effective communication and exercises for building reading comprehension. The exercises were assigned according to the student's needs, where more focus was directed towards the biggest obstacles that hindered advancement. The students were evaluated after each session in order to track student progress and attend to any concerns with the chosen lesson plan.

As an electrical engineering graduate, I use Mathematics in most of my work. I think that this topic is important in building a strong foundation for everyday life encounters with math. I enjoy sharing my problem solving techniques and encouraging others to improve their math skills.

As an engineer, I enjoy tinkering and working on interesting projects. These projects require knowledge of different areas, such as circuits, fundamental physics, and a variety of technologies. I enjoy sharing my passion for engineering and my ideas for fun projects.

Having taken a few courses in C++ programming, I immediately got hooked on the power of the C++ language. In my spare time, I enjoy working on small side projects where I am programming and learning new ways to use C++. Given the similarities between C++ and Arduino programming, I've enjoyed using my previous knowledge to do fun things in the physical environment through an Arduino.

I hope to help students improve their confidence and abilities through a set of personalized tutoring sessions and final goals. Please feel free to contact me by email or SMS if you have any questions, concerns, or for a quick introduction. Thank you for viewing my profile and have a great day.

C++

I have taken the following relevant courses at CCNY: Introduction to Computing (CSc 10200) and Programming for Electrical Engineers (EE25900). These courses use the C++ programming language as an introduction to programming and follow with programming methods that are useful in engineering fields. In addition, I am self-taught in more advanced concepts such as Object Oriented Programming and Generic Programming. My interest in C++ has led me to further my understanding of the language beyond the basic topics of an introductory course.

Knowledgeable and patient

Jonathan is a great fit for my son, who is currently in 6th grade and math is challenging for him. I can see with my son that he is looking forward to the lesson and he seems to be understanding more.

Knowledgeable and patient

Jonathon is a great instructor! He was really patient and understanding of my lack of knowledge and worked to make sure I was comfortable with each topic. He knows what he is doing and does a very good job explaining.

Knowledgeable and Reliable Tutor

Jonathan tutored me in C++; and has been a very reliable and outgoing tutor. He’s helped me on few C++ program and overall I’ve had a great experiences of having him as a tutor. Every lesson he’s been prepared and a reliable source to answer any of my questions. He’s very knowledgeable on the subjects he’s tutored me on or will do extra research to be prepared for each lesson. Great tutor with real commitment to tutoring his students.

Jonathan is very patient and smart.

Jonathan helped me get some knowledge for my precalculus placement test. He gave assignments, and follow ed up in my learning progress as a teacher would have done.

One of the best tutors I ever have! Smart and patient!

Jonathan is very patient and smart tutor! He answered all my questions until I understand the concept. He would explain over and over in different ways until I get it! I took algebra in college over the summer, I was struggling with it but with the help of Jonathan it got much easier and understandable. He's not only helped me pass with a grade of 94%, he also helped me with all my homeworks which was a lot! I was so satisfied with his help that he's now helping me with calculus and I know that with his help, I will get another good grade too! I really recommend Jonathan, he has affordable price compering to other tutors and he's also flexible! I am thankful to have found him!

The best tutor ever!

He helped me understand the logic behind the coding as well as problem solving. If you are learning computer science programming language such as C++, he is eve able to explain mathematical logics that works for the coding. Very patient and very very helpful!

Helpful Tutor

Jonathan has been working with both of my kids, and he is very good with them, he has been helping my 17-year-old with Geometry, and my 15-year-old with Algebra 2. He is flexible, always on time, and very nice. We will continue to work with him until High School is over.
