About Camille

Hello! I am a recent graduate from New York University with a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.F.A. in Dance. I am an avid learner and creative spirit aiming to provide a simultaneously enjoyable and effective tutoring experience.

I have been tutoring in the city since July 2016 for a wide range of students. My experience includes tutoring on a weekly basis for numerous clients as well as working with students over a short period of time to help them get caught up. In the past I have composed a two-week curriculum for a 4th grader in both math and English. I incorporated his specific interests in order to keep him engaged throughout the process. Aside from my experience tutoring in the city, I have also grown up in a teaching environment. In middle school and high school I tutored and helped run summer camps for my mom's K-12 school. I also tutored peers in math to help them succeed in standardized tests. These experiences have bolstered my ability to assess a student’s challenges, and rather than judge these challenges as inhibitors, recognize them as helpful information to best understand the student’s learning style. Aside from tutoring, I also have extensive experience babysitting and teaching ballet to elementary-aged students. If it isn’t clear yet, I love to work with kids!

My time at NYU has given me tools, time management skills, and organizational processes which benefit my tutoring style. As a math major, my classes not only introduced me to a plethora of new subject areas, but have also solidified my understanding of concepts I learned beforehand. I have acquired a wide range of mathematical knowledge including subjects such as Calculus (I,II, and III), Linear Algebra, and Probability. Being a math major has revealed a variety of lenses available to approaching mathematics, which has given the subject a new sense of creativity that I love to share with clients. As a dancer, I am immersed in densely creative environments, where working with people is a necessity to the art form as well as a passion of mine. The creative and social skills I have developed through these studies and work has served as an integral building block to my tutoring style.

My target tutoring clients do not have age, level, or rigor limitations. I am happy and interested in working with clients and students who range in age, stage, and skill level. Whether you are are a parent seeking extra help for your child in any range of subjects, a young person trying to pass that one math requirement, or a student engaged in a deep pursuit of math, I would love to work closely with you and develop a course of action that will best serve your demand. Please reach out if you have any questions and I hope I can be a service to you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary Math

I have helped elementary students in math since I was in middle school. I ran summer school programs with my mom growing up as well as tutored one on one with some of her students. I recently created a two week curriculum for a 5th grader in math and ELA to review and prepare him for a new school year. I currently work with multiple students in elementary school and middle school in math.

Great Math Tutor

My daughter has been struggling with 8th grade math. Camille started helping her about a month ago and is doing a phenomenal job. She's knowledgeable, a great communicator and patient. My daughter is doing much better and attributes it to Camille.
