I am a qualified Special Education & Music teacher from Dublin, Ireland. I am moving to New York City this August and I am looking for students. I also have a background in social care, working in residential care with at-risk young people between the ages of 8 and 18 years.
Throughout the past eight years, I have worked in a secondary (high) school and have taught music to children between ages 12 and 18 years , both on an individual and group basis, primarily focusing on music theory and composition. Furthermore, I have worked with younger children on a private basis. I have also worked as a Special Education teacher with children of the same age bracket, again on an individual and group basis. I am experienced working with children presenting with physical, as well as intellectual difficulties. I have taken a central role in the school, developing individual pupil profiles for students presenting with special educational needs. I have been actively involved in the cultivation in both the areas of literacy and numeracy, as well as promoting positive behavior, independent life skills and hygiene. I have meticulously read all available psychological and medical reports, communicated with all relevant classroom teachers, and liaised closely with senior members of the Special Educational Needs team prior to profiling which informs subsequent planning.
I have also acted as a home tutor to students who were unable to attend school for differing reasons such as refusal to attend due to anxiety, expulsion and serious health difficulties like I.B.S. Through this, I have tutored students in several subjects such as history, geography, English, religious education, social political and health education and rudimentary math.
For me, there is nothing more satisfying than helping a child or young adult grow with confidence on reaching their full potential whether academic or otherwise. If you require any further information, I have several referees you can contact and can provide written references if necessary. I look forward to hearing from you.
I am available for tutoring Monday to Friday from 9.am. to 9 p.m. from the 29th of August both online and/or in-person.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
