About Franesco

My love for teaching comes from a lifelong passion for studying music and an endless curiosity towards this art. As a professional saxophone and woodwind player, multi graduate in Italy, Switzerland and a full-bright Graduate with honors at the NewSchool for Jazz in NYC, I know how much discipline an instrument and music itself require.

I have played the saxophone in hundreds of live shows and recordings appearing on Festivals such as Montreux jazz festival (CH), Vicenza jazz (IT) and Ascona jazz (CH). I have been teaching for several years as a music theory and rhythm assistant and as a saxophone, music theory and ear training tutor for the Newschool. I have also taught saxophone privately for many years and gave ear training and rhythm workshops in Verona's music schools (IT) to students groups of all ages and level.

My main target is to provide enough information and open-mind to the student that he/she will eventually overcome the instrumental issues to finally focus on the deep understanding of what the art of music is. All this done thanks to on-going flexibility exercises for the technique and the musical brain.

I like to keep the students curious and occupied with the right dose of musical or technical homework in order to keep his/her musical studies always present as a daily routine. I have been teaching students of all ages and my experience goes from tutoring 7 years old up to 70.

For any saxophone, woodwinds, piano, ear training and music theory need I am certainly a valid option for your tutoring.

I am also a native Italian speaker and have a huge passion for words, I always privately tutored Italians, French, English and German people while I was living in Europe. I graduated obtaining an A at the high school "Ferraris" in Verona and also gave Italian tutoring lessons at the NewSchool students of foreigner languages.

I am generally available every day from 9am to 9 pm and I can travel to students or meet them at a rehearsal studio if needed. my base rate is 60$/h , I also offer lesson packages at a discount so contact me for more details!

Look forward to hearing from you and help you achieve success with your instruments!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ear Training

I am a 3.9 GPA graduate at the New School for jazz and contemporary music with honor in 2014. My background in ear training starts at the age of 14 successfully passing the solf├Ęge test in Italy and then in Switzerland in 2011. At the New School I have completed the ear training curriculum obtaining A in all tests while I was working as an in-campus tutor for ear training college students. I developed, and later taught at Italian music schools and private students in NYC, a practical approach to ear training that enabled all of my students to succeed in their ear-training tests tremendously improving their hearing skills.

I am a Native Italian from Verona, I obtained my high school diploma with grade A. I have been tutoring non-Italian since I moved to Switzerland and then to NYC 4 years ago.

Music Theory

I graduated at the Newschool in New York City obtaining A on the music theory curriculum; I have written an essay about music theory education in a practical context: for this I also composed a theme and variation that develops many harmonical concepts in different music styles.

Graduated in saxophone and jazz music at the NewSchool (with honor), HEMU Lausanne (CH) and the Italian conservatory E.F. Dall'Abaco in Verona.
I have an active career as leader and side-man between Europe and the US having also played at Dizzy's club in NY, Montreux jazz, Cully jazz - performing with my trio and large ensemble. Considered a "child prodigy" I was performing on stages at the age of 15 and in the last 4 years I developed an unique teaching method for saxophone technique that brings together correct breathing, ear training, mouthpiece control and showed amazing results on students of any level.
