I am a teacher experienced in working with students from kindergarten through high school, with an emphasis in history and social science, and language arts. My teaching resume is as varied as the backgrounds and abilities of the students that I have worked with. I bring enthusiasm to each subject and believe that learning is vibrant and should be enjoyed.
I am certified in both NYC and the State of Connecticut to teach Social Studies on the secondary level. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught American History from the pre-colonial period through to the present time. I taught US and World History at Masuk HS in Monroe, CT for fifteen years. I am also qualified to prepare students for AP level courses and tests.
I graduated from Brooklyn College, CUNY with a major in Anthropology. I taught Anthropology for three years (2011-2014) at Masuk H.S.. Monroe, CT. I increased the enrollment in Anthropology by 300% while teaching that subject. I worked with the American Museum of Natural History in NYC arranging student field trips and collaborating on curriculum.
