I am a student at Columbia University's School of General Studies. I have worked as a teacher and as a teaching assistant in both formal academia and in non-traditional educational environments. I have experienced classrooms in a variety of educational settings as both a student and teacher, and I feel that through my experiences I am uniquely attune to discrepancies that exist within academic programs. I feel very strongly about education as an incredible privilege but also recognize it as a massively complicated system.

My favorite experience working in classrooms was the time I spent working at the American Museum of Natural History's Adventures in Science, "Spiders Alive!" live exhibition course.

I have traveled independently to and within India and British Columbia, Canada. I have worked as a researcher on a sailboat studying marine debris. I have worked as a beekeeper and as a filmmaker, and I've also worked in politics. Last year I also worked to develop a television show for creative people local to where I was living.

I have an intense love of learning and of writing in particular. I am an editor and a writer. I run a weekly writing group and I am the multimedia intern for Apogee Journal. I have had my writing and art published by a variety of small publications, and I attended the Yale Writer's Conference in 2013. I am now pursuing a degree in creative writing at Columbia.

I am happy to talk with you and to figure out if we would be a good fit. Until July, I will be available Thursdays from 9-5, Fridays from 9-12 and 3-5, and over the weekends. I am also willing to have some flexibility, just email me. I am happy to talk and find a way to align our schedules. I look forward to hearing from you!
