About Ari

I'm an experienced tutor, with hundreds of hours of one-on-one experience. Prior to moving to NYC, I was a Java teaching assistant at Brandeis University. Currently, I'm a full time engineer at Moody's Analytics.

I have privately tutored SAT Mathematics, Java, web development, and algebra. I enjoy working with high school/college students and overachieving middle school students. My industry experience spans working as a software engineer for two enterprise software startups, one in NYC and another in MetroWest Boston, and my current job over at Moody's Analytics.

Java, Python, SQL, C, and Javascript.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

Prior tutoring experience, 760 SAT Mathematics Subject Test and 770 SAT Math 1 Reasoning

Chess

Rated 76th percentile in competitive Blitz, 90th percentile in competitive Standard chess worldwide. Competed in USCF tournaments, was part of Brandeis Chess Club as an undergrad.

Computer Programming

I graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Computer Science, where I covered Java, Python, SQL, and a few other languages in depth. I have tutored at Brandeis for the primary Java course, and privately through student job sites. I am currently employed as a software engineer at Moody's Analytics, which followed a rigorous hiring process and held 2 internships at high-growth startups.

Computer Science

I'm an experienced teaching assistant with private tutor experience at Brandeis University. I was a teaching assistant for Programming Techniques in Java in Fall 2014, and helped administer the 3D Animation course in Spring 2015, which is done in Blender and Python.

I have positive ratings in all my Python courses, and enjoy tutoring. I have previously tutored in the Brandeis Computer Science department.

Java

I have previously held a position as a teaching assistant for Java at Brandeis University. I am familiar with OOP, Data Structures, and Multithreading concepts. Happy to start simple. Java is a great language, and I enjoy it a lot.

Python

I have taught introductions to Python with Machine Learning to graduate business students. I use Python regularly for scripting.
