Marian University (Elementary Education)
I am a past Certified Elementary Teacher from Wisconsin. I have taught at various grade levels. I have also been a private tutor for many years. I have tutored all subjects, and all ages (from very young, through adult).
I enjoy teaching all subjects. But I also empower the student by teaching him/her how to study. The student will find that study is much easier, by just applying the skills that I teach. They come away with a secret weapon which they can use to learn anything they want!
As an elementary math teacher, I take the abstract out of the subject. I make math real for the student. They not only find that it has a purpose, but they are able to use it.
I have found that the teaching of grammar is being neglected these days. If it's being taught at all, it is often being poorly taught. Take notice of the writing that you see in social media. If one cannot communicate properly, one's message won't be received the way it was intended. I am able to take the confusion out of the subject for my students.
Science can be understood when it is taught clearly. I enjoy all areas of elementary science, and can instill the love of the subject to my students.

My college degree is in Elementary Education (grades 1 through 8). During the years that my own 2 kids were in grade school and high school, I worked as a substitute teacher -- teaching at all elementary grade levels (including Kindergarten). I also have tutored all ages, from Kindergarten through adult.
I have a degree in elementary education, and I have taught many students handwriting, both manuscript and cursive. I have taught handwriting, as a subject, in the classroom. I have also tutored students on handwriting.
It is a fact that one's ability with communication is directly related to one's understanding of, and ability with, handwriting.
Phonics is vital to the learning of reading, even though it is being neglected in many classrooms today. I learned Reading with a Phonics method -- and when I was in college for teacher training, we had at least one course in teaching Phonics. I teach my students the phonics of their language (English) when I teach reading. When I tutor, I use an actual set of Phonics cards, that are put out by a very reputable educational supply company.
Study Skills is a field of expertise of mine; I have received special training in that area. I have taken several courses in it, to learn an actual methodology of "Learning How to Learn" from a non-profit organization. I use it all the time. I empower my students with this knowledge of "how to study"; it's very effective. They will have a secret weapon to be able to learn any subject that they want.
