About Jane

I grew up in Manhattan and know first-hand what it is like to be a student in the wonderful city of New York. Upon graduating from Duke University in 2012, with a degree in neuroscience and psychology, I made my way to Washington, D.C., where I spent a few years working at an education non-profit. I recently moved back to NYC and, this summer, I will begin a master's program in Teaching Literacy and Childhood General Education at Bank Street College of Education.

I have an academic background in psychology, neuroscience, and biology, and I am a skilled writer who enjoys putting together highly individualized learning plans for students. I look forward to working with you!

I was masterful in the sciences in high school, with a particular focus on regular and advanced biology. I continued my biology coursework and completed a major in psychology and neuroscience at Duke University, and I put theory into practice during my time spent in a handful of laboratories, including Columbia University's Cardiothoracic Heart Surgery Lab, and Duke's Laboratory of Neurogenetics. I would be thrilled to help show you just how fascinating science can be!

My success as a professional has hinged on my ability to proofread and to write. I have developed written content for more than fifty high-profile events, produced articulate gift agreements for high-level donors, and I write powerful talking points for the deans of a major university. I also have a lot of personal experience with college and graduate school application essays, and I would be thrilled to help develop and proofread your written work.

I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions you might have and I do hope to meet you in person soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
