I am New York state certified in Adolescent English Education grades 7-12, and presently pursuing a Special Education degree at City College. I teach 9th grade English and ICT English in the New York City public school system, where I have been employed for 4 years. My current classroom demographic is English Language Learners and Special Education / IEP students, but I have previously taught English Regents prep and honors English as well.
I look forward to assisting students in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, literature, as well as Regents and SAT prep. My goals are to foster written and verbal communication skills within my students, and to increase test scores. I am well versed in young adult literature, and can offer texts that will stimulate a student's desire to read. Curriculum can be provided or I can assist with current school work.
I am available all evenings during the week, and 9am - 6pm on weekends. My rate is $50 per hour, but am willing to negotiate rates for more than 1 child or for package deals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Presently, I teach ICT English, which is comprised of over 50% students with special academic needs and IEPS. Additionally, I am in the process of earning my Special Education certification through City College.
