About Michael

I am currently in my 5th year teaching and have over 10 years experience as a tutor. I have my undergraduate degree from Binghamton University where I majored in psychology with a pre-med concentration, earning a 3.9 GPA, and a graduate degree from Columbia University - Teachers College with a students with disabilities certification, earning a 4.0 GPA. I have experience working with students on the autism spectrum, mood disorders and learning disabilities.

I have taught at all levels from elementary through high school. I am currently a high school Algebra common core special education teacher for NYC DOE. I have experience teaching and tutoring general education and students with special needs in the following subjects: Algebra, Geometry, Living Environment, Global History, US History, and English.

In addition to tutoring, I also provide special education and IEP (Individualized Education Plan) consulting in which I thoroughly review each section of a student's IEP and psychoeducational report to ensure that they are receiving the correct accommodations and services.

Students are provided a differentiated approach to learning algebra through assessment and a personalized plan. As a college student I had taken courses in calculus, statistics, and physics, earning a 4.0 in each. I have taught common core algebra for the past three years in NYC.

Students are able to master biological and living environment concepts through a visual, personalized approach. When tutoring for biology/living environment my students earned higher regents scores than their peers. I have college level course experience in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and geological science earning a 4.0 in each.

Whether you are looking for support in passing a class, rocking a regents examination, reviewing your IEP, or post-secondary planning I can provide the individualized personalized support you need to succeed. The education process from elementary through college is more complicated now than it has ever been. We all learn differently and have different needs and I will provide you or your child with the individualized support needed.
