About Patricia

I enjoy teaching both at a personal and professional level. I am a 2014 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law's juris doctor program. I have an undergraduate degree in finance and am a licensed attorney in Mexico. I believe that my educational background and work experience make me a good tutor. I am completely bi-lingual in English and Spanish, as I was born and grew up in the border city of El Paso, TX. I am self-motivated and passionate about assisting students with diverse backgrounds to reach their goals. I am committed to excellence and very excited for the opportunity to continue tutoring.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and majored in Finance. I scored in the top percentile in the Math category for the SAT. I took advance math courses in college including differentials, calculus, and advance algebra.

Further, while I worked at a law firm in Texas, I provided private Spanish tutoring lessons during the weekends to help young professionals be better positioned in the workforce. I have the ability to design and develop interactive materials customized to each student’s learning ability to achieve the best results. During the summer of my second year of law school, I clerked in Mexico City office. While in Mexico City, I volunteered with a local university to teach English language classes at low income schools. Additionally, I have strong communication skills. I have worked at a real estate company and negotiated contracts with clients of different socio-economic backgrounds.

During law school I volunteered for WITS literacy program serving Chicago public elementary schools. The program consisted of tutoring and working with students to help them build strong comprehension and reading skills. I am also very organized and committed to helping others learn. Prior to law school, I participated in Project SHINE and taught English as a second language at Opportunity Centers for the Homeless.

I enjoy teaching core subjects. Throughout my career, I have volunteered my time to afterschool programs at public schools within my community. I have helped students with diverse backgrounds overcome difficulty in any of the core subjects including, science, math, english, and social studies.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like tutoring classes, or any other information regarding my qualifications.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
