I am from Mali, a former French colony in West Africa. Thus, French is among my first languages and the official language of my country. I did Language and literature in French. I began tutoring since my senior year of high school from kinder garden to middle school. After my BA in 2009, I began tutoring professionals first year university students at a American Sponsored language center in my country. I currently work as an assistant teacher at the Science, Language and Art school in Brooklyn where French is the main language.
In 2014, I worked as an assistant teacher in French at APE Language Center, a private school which teaching French at all Levels in Athens, Ohio. Additionally, I taught and tutored adults during my MA 2012-2014 most of them students or professional who wanted to improve their French or for business related purposes. I am experienced in second language learning and teaching . Therefore, I am well-aware of the challenges faced by those interested in a foreign language. For that reason, I have developed in interest in teaching. I enjoy assisting people in meeting their goal of developing confidence as well as comfort in learning and speaking a new language.
Being a tutor for me means that I have the opportunity to share my knowledge and skill while learning for those i meet for tutoring. Together, we create a learning environment which provides an atmosphere of respect, and comfort allowing the both of us to accomplish our respective roles. Enthusiasm, passion combined with creativity makes my service a particular one.
I believe that people learn from each other. Thus, I am open to suggestions from the learner. Also, I value their opinions, and love to see them formulate ideas or things of interests that can be of use for a fruitful learning. In my tutoring, i prefer hands on approach which involves the use of less technology. I like to incorporate daily routines into our lessons to enhance oral communication, develop a rich vocabulary in a area of students' interest. I take my students' success at heart. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
