About Ariel

My name is Ariel and I have been a New York City high school English teacher for the past two years and have only recently stopped teaching to pursue other interests. Nevertheless, during my teaching years I succeeded in writing curriculum, engaging hard-to-reach students and creating a friendly, lively atmosphere where students could actively learn.

I am very familiar with teaching literature, writing skills and test preparation as my previous school encouraged teachers to prepare students for their ELA Regents Common Core exam starting in 9th grade. I helped students excel on the Regents exam when they chose to take in early in 10th grade. Aside from my regular classroom teaching, I also met with mentee students one-on-one to tutor them during lunch and after school. Many of my students struggled with learning disabilities or were English language learners. However, others were top-achieving students who wanted to improve their reading, writing and vocabulary.

I am an experienced, patient tutor who likes to make learning fun and accessible to every kind of student. I will tailor my lessons to the way that your student learns best. I believe in keeping parents in the loop about the skills, activities, challenges and triumphs of every session and pride myself on the detailed notes I will email parents.

I am very familiar with the French language having studied it in college and having lived in Paris for a year. I am best when teaching introductory French skills or with pronunciation help.

I am a certified NYC English teacher. I have been tutoring reading and writing skills for year. Previously, I taught 9th and 10th grade students as a high school teacher.

I believe all students can learn and be successful. I will be patient, dedicated and flexible to your schedule.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
