About Patrizio

I have been teaching piano students in the New York City metro area for one year, and in Italy prior to that since 2006. In Italy, I taught intermediate and advanced piano, including music theory, solfedge, and harmony to other musicians and singers, whereas my students here in the U.S. are young beginning students in piano. It is a great pleasure to teach all levels of students, and to help them to greatly appreciate music with both passion and technique.

My degree is a Masters in Composition from the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music in Turin, Italy. This was an intensive 10 year program of study which I completed in seven years including summer programs. My music coursework included harmony, counterpoint, fugue, theory and history, and the philosophy of composers. Most recently before moving to the U.S., in 2013 I was the recipient of the European Union's Working with Music fellowship, which brought me to London to work in Quadra Recording Studios as a sound engineer and production assistant, as well as to record my own compositions.

I am a native Italian speaker and worked for 13 years in operas at the Scala of Milan and the Teatro Regio in Turin. I have done acting and voice over work in Italy and the U.S., and am trained in correct diction for Italian. For this reason I can be an excellent tutor for students looking to improve pronunciation and fluency in Italian.

I bring enthusiasm and joy to my piano lessons, while maintaining a focus on correct technique.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

General Music

In addition to my degree in music composition, I have taught music to students of varying ability since 2006. Most recently I am teaching students approx. 8 hours per week at Natalia Huang Piano Studio in Greenwich, CT. I also have an autistic student who I teach privately in Manhattan. In Italy I taught music and piano to various students and colleagues, for example, voice majors who wanted to improve piano skills.

Piano

I have studied piano more than 25 years and as previously stated, taught students in piano part-time since 2006.
