About Mark

I am one of the few tutors that only tutors Stata and econometrics. I specialize in helping people with their quantitative research projects and statistics classes. I can help you find a research topic, acquire data, clean and validate data, specify your model, and interpret your results. Other tutors are very successful at teaching dozens of subjects. That's not what I'm here to do. I want to help you with programming stata for social science research. Frequently when using stata users end up spending a majority of their time being stuck, not doing work. I will help save you lots of time and aggravation programming stata.

I've helped all kinds of students with programming stata including from undergrads taking statistics classes to PhD students working on their dissertations. Many students, even in graduate programs at Ivy League schools, find themselves completely lost when they have to do statistics programming.

I have a master's degree in economics with a concentration in econometrics. I have experience using Stata to do advanced statistical programming both academically and professionally. I have experience with many linear and non linear models. I can help you work with cross-sectional data, Panel data, and pooled data. I have experience as a economics, econometrics, and Stata tutor.

I want to help you become experienced with statistical Programming in Stata. I aim to help you understand how to connect findings to social science theory. I can help you design and program your quantitative social science research project.

I received a perfect score of 170 on the quantitative section of the GRE. I have demonstrated quantitative critical thinking skills as well as over a decade of experience in creative problem solving education. I focus on learning analytical problem solving skills that don't just teach you to solve questions your professor may give you on a practice test, but any challenge you might receive academically or professionally.

I conducted my Master's thesis in Stata as well as have professional experience in Stata. I frequently use advanced programming techniques such as nested for loops and programming custom maximum likelihood estimators.

I hope to make Stata engaging and exciting so gaining familiarity with statistical programming won't seem like work. I love using Stata and I hope I can help you enjoy it too. Statistical programming is a desirable skill when looking for work in the field of social sciences and economics. I will help you learn to have the technical background that will help you achieve academic success as well as make yourself attractive to prospective employers, as I have done for myself.

Jumie, I am glad you enjoyed working with me and would recommend me to others. Usually I offer new students a 15-30 minute free consultation to discus their project and what I can do for them. I am sorry for the miscommunication about our 1:45 session. I gave you half an hour of it for free, but if you are dissatisfied I am happy to issue a full refund. I aim to be a 5 star tutor. If students feel that is not the experience they receive I am happy to give a refund. I look forward to continuing your project to completion.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I strive to provide my students with the best as I can, & feedback helps me to continually improve.

I’m sorry that you were not satisfied with our last session. I’m always happy to review study materials ahead of time so I can be ready to focus on any specific topics. I apologize that I didn’t mention this to you--this extra prep time is a courtesy I provide at no cost & may have prepared me to better address the two questions I didn’t have immediate answers for.

I have issued a full refund for the cost of both sessions. I’m glad I was able to help you with dozens of questions we covered & wish you success in your studies.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Econometrics

I have a bachelors and master's degree in economics with a concentration in econometrics and a minor in math. I have used Stata extensively academically receiving a GPA of 3.87. I have also used Stata professionally to support a research team. My original major was Computer science so I have a familiarity with programming techniques in Stata and other languages that other econometricians don't have. I have years of experience tutoring economics, econometrics, and stata at Hunter College.

Economics

I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in economics. I have been a TA and a tutor for economics for years. I have given college lectures to economics classes. I can make learning economics fun and exciting because I love economics and have an infectious enthusiasm for the subject.

STATA

Top STATA tutors teach an average of 64.8 topics*. I am not a jack-of-all trades. I specialize in STATA and closely related subjects. I have used STATA extensively in both undergraduate and graduate classes. I was a student other students came to for help as a peer and as a professional tutor.

The best in my experience

Quite simply, Mark is the best tutor! In corporate group or individual sessions, he demonstrates such a broad theoretical knowledge of statistics, as well as a deep expertise of Stata. This know-how is coupled with real teaching ability. He is professional and personable too! I am so relieved that I finally found a good stat tutor.
