About Anne

I am an actor and teacher in New York. I work with performers of all ages and non performers looking to improve their public speech skills.

Preparation is the key to any performance opportunity. In order to be open and relaxed in the moment, you need to lay down the muscle memory ahead of time, training in the same way an athlete runs drills or a dancer practices combinations. With breathing and relaxation.

I believe the actor's job is to speak his or her truth, to meet the text from moment to moment. It is challenging to stay present over the course of a monologue or speech, to not slip away into watching yourself. But it is the critical job of the actor to ask, "where am I now and what do I want". Answering these questions will begin to unlock the truth of the artist.

I have an MFA from NYU and a BA in Theatre from Brown University. I have been a teacher at Avenues, Friends School, 52nd St Project, The Public's mobile unit and Mid Summer Day Camp, specializing in clowning and physical work.

I have also been an actor on HBO, at Classic Stage Company and Shakespeare and Co.

I love what I do and I love sharing what I do with others.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
