I am currently teaching at a NYC public school in Woodside, New York. I am a 6th grade special education math and science teacher. As a special education teacher I have the opportunity to get to know my students as individuals. I learn their learning styles, interests and readiness levels and differentiate my instruction to best suit my students. I am an organized and passionate teacher who will do whatever it takes to help my students succeed in school and enjoy learning as much as I do.
I am currently teaching the NYS CCLS math and science for my 6th grade self-contained students.
I can tutor elementary math, science, social studies, study skills, grammar and writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach students with Autism due to my training in Applied Behavior Analysis. While I was in graduate school I worked at a school called Developmental Disabilities Institute where I was training in ABA and that was the primary means of teaching my students academics as well as daily living skills. I now teach for the DOE where I use a lot of my ABA training for my current students such as writing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
I am qualified to teach common core because that is what I currently teach. I have taught/am currently teaching 6th grade self-contained CCLS math, science and social studies. In addition, since I started teaching the common core standards were the new standards so that is what I learned in graduate school/during my student teaching.
I am qualified to teach elementary k-6 because I am currently teaching at a NYC DOE school in Queens, self-contained 6th grade math and science. Although I am teaching 6th grade and teaching the 6th grade common core standards, my students math levels vary from k-6. Therefore, I differentiate my instruction to teach all of my students within the same lesson based on their learning styles and readiness levels.
I currently teach 6th grade self-contained students who are dual special education and ESL students. Many of my students have parents who do not speak English and therefore can't help their students study for their classwork. It is my job to teach my students not only content but also how to stay organized and study for their upcoming exams. Due to being an extremely organized person I teach my students how to be organized and how to prepare for their upcoming exams focusing on different ways to study based on their individual learning style.
