Hello and welcome!
I am an experienced tutor specializing in biology and English writing/reading. I help my students prepare for the AP, SAT and SAT-II, ACT, and Regents exams in these subjects, as well as provide the support they need to study for school tests, complete homework assignments, write essays, and improve their overall grades and confidence. My students are typically in middle school, high school, or early college, but I enjoy working with learners of all ages!
I received my Master's degree in biology in 2016 and I work full-time as a zoo exhibit developer for the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, and other educational institutions. As a professional writer of zoo graphics, it's my job to communicate complex science concepts in ways that general audiences can understand. I pride myself on my ability to make difficult-to-understand ideas approachable while maintaining their scientific accuracy, a skill that translates perfectly into my tutoring style.
I graduated from NYU in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology, and I was awarded the department's "Excellence in Fieldwork Award" for my work teaching after-school science lessons to students at NYC public schools. More recently, as a graduate student of biology, I was awarded a conservation scholarship to travel to the Amazon in Peru to study birds and tropical forest ecology. I also study diamondback terrapins (a turtle species) here in New York City, and have presented my research and received awards at several science conferences in 2016 and 2017.
I look forward to hearing from you and discussing your tutoring goals! Hello and welcome!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a score of 34 on the ACT English exam.
I have tutored several students in ACT Reading, including students for whom English is not their native language. I received a 35 on my own ACT Reading exam back in high school.
I am currently pursing my Master’s degree in biology. My recent graduate coursework has covered concepts in cellular biology, plants, invertebrates, the human body, and bio-engineering, with a special focus on ecology and environmental biology.
I have tutored English writing and reading for the past several years in New York for students from age ten to sixteen.
As a professional zoo exhibit developer, I perform research and write the messaging for the exhibits at five New York City zoological parks: the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, Prospect Park Zoo, and Queens Zoo. I absolutely love being part of a creative team that designs engaging exhibits to connect visitors to nature and conservation. I received my Master’s degree in biology in 2016, including field studies in the Amazon rainforest and Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. I have received four awards for my work related to science communication, conservation, and environmental education.
