University of Florida (Bachelor in Fine Art)
My love for tutoring comes from my inspirations to help others as a humanitarian. I believe that by helping younger generations, we can guide them in the right direction to succeed independently afterwards. I currently work as an after school tutor. With this program I help 10-15 kids a class learn in areas of engineering, technology, art, and math, throughout the Manhattan and Brooklyn area. I am interested in focusing more on one on one help as well, as I reach out to new students through this program.
I graduated from University of Florida with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree and Miami Dade Community College with an Associates degree. I became interested in tutoring younger kids after my sister had her first child, and I saw how hard it was to keep him off of the iPad and interested in academia. I know I can help kids understand things better and value excellent communication skills both verbally and written. I will provide progress reports to parents, and make sure that each student understands a concept, before jumping ahead to a new assignment. My biggest goal is to help students with English, which I feel is being ignored as a valued educational point. I strive to ignore internet slang and introduce students to a more profound way of expressing themselves.
I have a thorough understanding of the human body. I have been a dancer since I was young, but studied Anatomy and Kinesology in college which really sparked my interest in this field. I strive to not only help kids understand the body mentally, but also physically. Introducing how each muscle connects to one another, and how you can use them together to manipulate movements. I have many coloring activities for students to understand how the body works, and also hands on building clay figurines to make muscles and connect them for deeper comprehension.
I have studied up to AP French in high school, and then continued my studies in college afterwards. I spent one month abroad in Nice, France. I believe that by constantly speaking French, the student can have a more thorough understanding of communicating and this will force them to enrich their vocabulary more frequently.
English is my strongest passion in my tutoring efforts. I strive to not only have the students acknowledge how to write, but speak confidently. Communication is the most important tool in our society to succeed. If a student does not know how to explain themselves, then there is a high possibility that they could be missing out on a lot of opportunities, by lack of verbal justification. I also believe in giving reading assignments followed by short tests so that the student are forced to embrace new vocabulary and problem solving.
I have studied Art throughout my entire college career. What is becoming a lost source of education, is extremely vital to our society. I do not want technology to replace art, and I fear that this is happening. I believe that by knowing our history we can make conscious decisions for more brilliant art in our future.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
