About Michael

My expertise is preparing students for the SAT and ACT with the objective of attaining entrance to the Ivy League schools. I have successfully tutored more than 200 students since 2009 (including my own daughter and son). My tutoring format is strictly structured to ensure the student's knowledge covers all topics tested on the SAT and/or ACT: - Reading - Math - Writing & Language - Optional Essay.

Tutoring Options include individual topic lessons, or full test preparation (all topics). A typical tutoring engagement includes three lessons per week for 12-weeks (36 lessons in total), beginning 13 weeks prior to the anticipated test date. Lessons are administered over Skype video, utilizing an online whiteboard.

90% of my students have improved their scores by at least 10% (in comparison with their previous best scores and/or their pre-engagement diagnostic exam). 50% of my students have improved their scores by at least 30% (in comparison with their previous best scores and/or their pre-engagement diagnostic exam). 10% of my students have improved their scores by at least 50% (in comparison with their previous best scores and/or their pre-engagement diagnostic exam). I am therefore comfortable to guarantee a minimum 10% score improvement, on the condition that the student attends all scheduled lessons, with no interruptions, and that he or she complete all assigned homework in a timely manner.

My prices are considered by some to be quite expensive, but the cost of NOT getting accepted to Harvard, Yale, or other Ivy League level schools will be, I can assure you, many tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands times more expensive than my 36-lesson course :-)
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My educational background and certifications include: 1) 2002 - Master of Arts, International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy (Tufts University and Harvard University); 2) 1998 - CPA Certification (Certified Public Accountant); 3) 1998 - MBA, International Business from Georgia State University; 4) 1985 - Executive Program, Mergers & Acquisitions, The Wharton Business School; and 5) 1982 - BSc., Accounting & Finance from the University of South Carolina.

Test-taking strategies often account for 10 - 30 % of a students score improvements, so I spend a great deal of time teaching these strategies. Each test and exam has its own unique strategies for success, and I am well versed in all of these strategies.

Finally, not only have I been tutoring for more than six years, I teach masters degree students finance and accounting courses, and I also have two children who both graduated from university recently (both of whom scored higher than the 90th percentile on their SAT and ACT tests) . I also took the SAT and the ACT during my own educational journey, and scored nearly perfect scores on both. So, I understand what it takes to be successful on standardized tests from many perspectives: that of a test taker, that of a parent of a child taking the tests, as a university professor of students who recently took the tests, and as a tutor for the past six years for students and professionals preparing for these tests.

I look forward to the possibility of working with you (or your child) to help you achieve a top score on yourSAT or ACT test.
