Hunter College (English Literature)
I may not be an experienced teacher but I compensate for my lack of formal experience with a passion to impart knowledge and joy in seeing people learn and watching them grow in the process. I am looking for change in my career path and this is the avenue I am seeking to engage my abilities. I am confident in my communication skills and people skills.
Even though I've mentioned many exuberant qualities and a zeal to become involved with others as stated under the English qualifications heading, I am not entirely devoid of experience. I am certified to teach ESL so I have the formal knowledge of the constructs involved in teaching English to foreigners.
On a professional level I am TESOL certified. On a personal level, I am worldly, understanding, with a strong command of the English language. An ancillary advantage I have comes from years of working in the field of customer service. My experiences are vast and varied and have met and engaged people from many different walks of life. I believe, over time, that has helped me attain a broader understanding of people of varied backgrounds and cultures and their outlook on things and what they're looking for. It's essentially helped me in opening my eyes and seeing the perspective of those whose world is much different from mine.
Well, Spanish is my second language. I speak it every day. It's part of my background and heritage, after all. It's part of my upbringing. That being said, I am not suggesting that my knowledge of the language derives completely from an informal background. I took several semesters of Spanish on the university level including an intensive summer session in Spain.
Lessons with me will fun, informative and useful to apply in everyday life. Very practical and concise, as well. I may not be an experienced teacher but I compensate for my lack of formal experience with a passion to impart knowledge and joy in seeing people learn and watching them grow in the process. I am looking for change in my career path and this is the avenue I am seeking to engage my abilities. I am confident in my communication skills and people
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
